Ruth Frisch Dealy & Jamie Shelman through April 29, 2006
About the show...
Ruth Frisch Dealy will exhibit several new landscape works and a seminal self portrait.
"The drawn lines in Ruth's paintings reveal her interest in structure and form; she reduces the trees and plant life of the park to the level of scaffolding, armature. The simplest lines edge out form. These paintings are meditations on ways of seeing and reproducing that seeing not exactly but honestly."
Jamie Shelman will exhibit landscape derived abstractions, both oils on panel and several works on paper.
"In my work I attempt to capture a sense of place through movement in space. Horizontal and vertical bands of color evoke memories of my travels through landscapes and the physical relationship I have to the surge of energy and movement.
When I paint, I translate this sensory experience and it is rendered still. The finished work becomes a suspended movement – a recollection of travel, space and time that is felt more than it is seen."
